Maybe it’s all the insta filters or maybe it’s how badly we want a holiday glow, but we’ve become obsessed with freckles. Unless you’re blessed with the real deal, you’ll need to learn how to fake the frecks. Luckily for you, our fave makeup artist, Simmone Aziz, is back with all the tips and tricks to help you achieve this not-so-natural natural look. Try and use waterproof products for longevity like the Mac Eyebrow Styler. I like the thin rounded tip which helps with placement and the hard waxy texture makes it easy if you’re not that confident because not much product comes out. It’s buildable which means it’s hard to make a mistake and you can create different tones. Another favourite of mine is the Glossier Brow Flick because I like the wet texture and the felt tip applicator.
I thoroughly cleansed with The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser, then moisturised with the Omorovicza Illuminating Moisturiser and finished off with home-made lip balm! I also spend a couple of minutes every morning massaging my skin with a Gua Sha massage tool. This gets the blood circulation flowing which reduces puffiness, brightens under the eyes and wake the skin up for the day.
For that sun kissed base, I used the Chanel Vitalumière foundation with the Nars Taj Mahal blush and BYBI Beauty Babe Balm in bronze for a glowy highlight. On my eyes I’m wearing the Hourglass Scattered Light glitter eyeshadow and the Marc Jacobs Major Volume mascara with a Charlotte Tilbury lip liner on my lips.
After I’ve applied all my makeup I use the Jurlique Rose Silk Finishing powder where I want to apply my faux freckles, so it preps the skin and helps the freckles to last throughout the day.
I used the Mac Styler and Glossier Brow Flick because I find mixing products creates depth and dimension, so the freckles don’t look so flat. Both products have a different finish and applicator creating different tones and sizes. I like working with the natural freckles I already have and making the placement sporadic. It looks more natural that way.
