Great hair incoming …

Aveda Nutriplenish Leave-In Conditioner
I added the Nutriplenish leave-in Conditioner to wet the hair, as it’s easier to style hair when wet which makes it easier to manipulate. Typically, if you style natural hair dry this causes breakage as hair is less pliable and moisturised.

Aveda Be Curly Curl Enhancer
The curl enhancer adds additional moisture to curly textures, particularly for the ends of hair which are the oldest parts of our hair due to growth and require the most moisture to be added to keep hair supple and avoid breakage.

Tresemme Keratin Smooth Serum with Marula Oil
The Tresemme serum locks in the moisture to the hair that’s been added by the leave-in conditioner and curl enhancer used previously. It also adds shine to give hair a really healthy nourished look, but use sparingly as over use can make hair too product heavy.

Lotta Body Control Me Edge Gel

Ecoco Beauty Argan Oil Ecostyler Gel
The gel and edge control are used to give hold and keep hair in place once styled so that your style maintains for the day.

TIP 1:

Use a toothbrush to help slick your edges. Grab your favourite edge control, a new (unused!) toothbrush and get to work on your edges.

TIP 2:

Moisture, moisture, moisture! I prefer to style my hair in the shower and keep the style for a week. Here I styled my hair dry, so I used Aveda’s Nutriplenish Leave-In Conditioner to add moisture and help me transition between styles without breaking my hair.

TIP 3:

Your headscarf is your best friend. Not only for protecting your hair while you sleep, but also for keeping your hair in place and allowing your style to set while you finish your makeup and getting dressed. Style your hair, apply your headscarf and leave it on for 5-10mins, then remove it, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. This works best for up do’s or those requiring super slick edges.

Golden Rule: Never detangle dry hair. Detangle your hair with conditioner in the shower and work from your ends up. Mid-week or before wash day, detangle using your fingers, and be gentle with knots - take your time!
