6 Iconic LBDs

There are those iconic pieces that stand the test of time, that remain timeless and always stay relevant. Classic blue jeans. A crisp white shirt. A black biker jacket. An LBD. The Little Black Dress is a must-have in every woman’s wardrobe and in case you need convincing, here’s 5 of the most iconic LBDs…

When you think of iconic LBDs, the first picture that probably comes to mind is Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany's. The LBD of all LBDs, Audrey's makes us want to dress all fancy to even the most casual of events, croissant in hand and tiara on head.

We love an LBD that comes with a good story and Princess Diana’s certainly does. Dubbed the ‘revenge dress’, Diana wore this little number to a Vanity Fair party on the same night that Prince Charles’ confessed he’d been unfaithful to her on national television. It might have broken royal protocol, but it also made the history books. Iconic indeed.

Often referred to as ‘THAT dress’ there’s no way Liz Hurley in the black safety pin Versace dress wouldn’t make it onto this list. Accompanying her boyfriend at the time, Hugh Grant, to the premiere of his movie, Four Weddings and a Funeral back in 1994, she made sure all eyes were on her. The dress is now one of Versace’s most lusted over designs.

Whether you’re a Carrie, a Samantha, a Charlotte or a Miranda, we’re sure you can agree that they can all rock an LBD like no other. Proving that the LBD is a must-have for every woman, who else could prove its iconic status other than these four? Spoiler: no one.

Jennifer Aniston’s Friends character Rachel Green is a 90s style icon in her own right (and hair goals), but she really flew the flag for the LBD. Always choosing a simple, mini length dress, we never wanted to raid someone’s wardrobe so badly. This is one dress style that we’ll never go on a break with.

What do you think of when you think of Scary Spice? Leopard print. Sporty Spice? Trackies. Baby Spice? Pig tails. Ginger Spice? The Union Jack. Posh Spice? An LBD. No one did it quite like Victoria back in the day and although her style has evolved, she’s still a fan of an LBD, proving its timeless appeal. Now that’s girl power.
